Arch at Limehouse Conservation Area

This arch is located in the small Limehouse Conservation Area near Georgetown, Ontario, Canada. The location is quite close to the Greater Toronto Area. The water flowing beneath the arch is Black Creek. Running across the creek, just downstream from the arch is the Bruce Trail, a hiking trail that runs from Niagara-On-The-Lake to Tobermory.

Although the creek and arch ruins are a delight to photographers, Limehouse Conservation Area is better known for its reconstructed Lime Kilns (used for the processing of limestone) and the crevices created by cracks along the Niagara Escarpment. The crevices form narrow passages that look like a narrow version of the slot canyons of the American Southwest.

The park is unserviced and there are no fees to enter. Parking is at a premium at a few semi-unformal entrances.

The water blur was achieved using a neutral density filter for a 30 second exposure.

Check out the following HD Video taken the same day as the image above. Featured along with the arch and Black Creek is the crevices along the Niagara Escarpment. Included is a POV walking through the crevices while trying not to slip and fall on the treacherous early spring ice.
